Studio portrait of NX69184 Driver John Mackay Young, 3 Reserve Motor Transport Company, of Paddington, NSW, (originally of Dumpermbie, Scotland). Young enlisted on 6 March 1941. Young became a prisoner of war of the Japanese, and was one of hundreds of Australian and British prisoners of war selected to move from camps in Thailand to Japan aboard the Rakuyo Maru. He was killed when it was sunk by a US submarine on 12 September 1944.
