F1 Fragmentation Hand Grenade
Description
The F1 hand grenade has a high impact aluminium die cast cylindrical body. It is painted olive drab and has a yellow hazard band painted on the top of the grenade body. A steel safety pin and lever are attached to top of the grenade. The F1 grenade is time fuzed and has an explosive composition mass of 62 grams of RDX. The grenade normally contains more than 4,000 steel balls, however, this grenade is empty and is missing its fragmentation sleeve. Markings - GRENADE HAND FRAGMENTATION F1 0039 ADI 03.
History / Summary
The F1 fragmentation hand grenade was introduced into Australian military service in 2006 and has become the standard hand grenade used by Australian forces serving in Afghanistan.
