Description

One frame of a panoramic portrait of members of the 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), 2/14th Light Horse Regiment (Queensland Mounted Infantry) and the Royal Netherlands Army at Tarin Kot in Uruzgan Province, Afghanistan, 2008. Pictured at Camp Holland, the Reconstruction Task 4 (RTF-4) poses with Bushmasters, ASLAVs, and a Panzerhaubitze 2000 from the Royal Netherlands Army. RTF-4 deployed to Uruzgan province in April 2008, and comprised 41 different units from the Australian Defence Force. Its mission was to conduct protected reconstruction operations in the remote areas of the province as part of a broader Dutch-led task force. Over the following six months, the mission developed health, education, and security infrastructure, including the construction of bridges at key river crossings throughout Uruzgan and neighbouring provinces. RTF-4 completed its mission and returned to Australia in October 2008. See P07964.085 for the combined final portrait.
