Studio portrait of 55821 Private (Pte) Alfred Alwin Dreckow, South Australian Reinforcements. A farmer from Cleve, South Australia, prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 2nd Reinforcements from Sydney on 5 June 1918 aboard RMS Orontes for Liverpool, England. He joined the 9th Training Battalion on 13 August 1918 and was allotted to the 32nd Battalion. He was hospitalised with illness on 27 August 1918 which developed into broncho-pneumonia. Pte Breckow died of this disease on 19 October 1918. He was aged 23 years.
