Studio portrait of 6344 Private (Pte) Henry Thomas Knox, 27th Battalion, of Perth, WA; formerly of London, England. A clerk prior to enlisting in October 1916, Pte Knox embarked from Fremantle with the 18th Reinforcements on board HMAT Berrima (A35) on 23 December 1916. He arrived in France in May 1917 and in June was transferred to the 28th Battalion. Pte Knox was wounded in action by a gas attack in Belgium on 29 October 1917 and died on 5 November 1917. He was 22 years of age.
