Portrait of 160 Corporal (Cpl) Ronald Albert Peters, 32nd Battalion. A clerk from Adelaide, South Australia, prior to enlistment, he embarked from Adelaide on 18 November 1915 aboard HMAT Geelong, for Suez. In May 1916 he was transferred to the 5th Divisional Cyclists Corps which relocated to the Western Front, France, during June 1916 and combined into the 2nd ANZAC Corps Cyclist Battalion. In the months that followed, Cpl Peters suffered from a series of illnesses which resulted in his repatriation to England for treatment and recuperation before he was able to rejoin the Cyclist Battalion in late April 1918. He was transferred to the 50th Battalion on 4 June 1918. Cpl Peters was killed in action near Bray-sur-Somme, France, on 13 August 1918. He has no known grave and he is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial. He was aged 21 years.
