Description
Within a perspex box with a hessian covered board base: A painting on a board depicting a naked man and woman behind a black bush. The image is bordered by painted borders of lines and patterns and splotches of paint on the outer layer. Superimposed over the image and painted borders is a painted image of a flower, butterfly and colourful shape.
With these works, Lynn Collins was trying make protest art that was visual, timely, progressive but also alluring. There are many middle eastern references in 'Museum piece no. 1', including small oil paintings that reference Persian miniatures.
