Studio portrait of Mrs Margaret Mary Hindley, 21 year old widow of 2650 Private (Pte) William Hindley, 19th Battalion, with their two children May, aged 14 and a half months, and baby William Alfred, aged six weeks. Margaret Hindley lost her husband during the battle of Pozières on 24 July 1916. Their son William died in 1918. In 1920 Margaret married Samuel Donaghy, a soldier who also served with the 19th Battalion and had been captured by the Germans during the fighting at Fromelles in July 1916.
