Studio portrait of 414164 Aircraftman (later Flight Sergeant) Linton Patrick Sanderson RAAF, 70 Squadron RAF, of Millaa Millaa, Qld. A road contractor prior to enlistment on 16 August 1941, he trained as a Wireless Air Gunner and embarked from Sydney for service overseas on 24 August 1942. He was promoted to Flight Sergeant on 27 January 1943. Flight Sergeant Sanderson was reported missing on operations when the Wellington III NZ182 on which he was serving as air gunner disappeared over Artnana Italy on 23 November 1943. He was declared "Presumed Dead" two days later.
