Studio portrait of 2823 Private (later Driver) Alfred Percy Marks, 1st Australian Light Horse Regiment (later 1st Australian Light Horse Machine Gun Squadron) of Cecil Park via Liverpool, NSW. A labourer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard RMS Mongolia on 8 July 1916. On 23 November 1916, he died of malaria at Kantara, Egypt, aged 30. He is buried in the Kantara War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt.
