Studio portrait of 4443 Private William George Hatton, 17th Battalion of Lithgow, NSW. A furnaceman prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Nestor (A71) on 9 April 1916. He was killed in action near Villers-Bretonneux, France on 1 July 1918, aged 26. He is buried in the Crucifix Corner Cemetery, Villers-Bretonneux, France.
