Studio portrait of 3266 Private (later Corporal) William Samuel Turner, 19th (later 4th) Battalion of Granville, NSW. A clerk prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Suevic (A29) on 30 December 1915. He was killed in action on 3 January 1917 near Flers, France, aged 24. He is buried in the Bulls Road Cemetery, Flers, France.
