Studio portrait of 4846 Private (later Lance Corporal) Charles William Sullivan, 30th Battalion of Granville, NSW. A machinist engineer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Beltana (A72) on 9 November 1915. He was wounded in action on 28 September 1916 near Armentieres, France and died of his wounds on 16 October 1916, in the 13th General Hospital, Boulogne, France, aged 28. He is buried in the Boulogne Eastern Cemetery, France.
