Studio portrait of 4048 Private Vincent de Paul (known as Vincent) Kay, 3rd (later 45th) Battalion of Granville, NSW. A barman prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Medic (A7) on 30 December 1915. He was killed in action at Dernancourt, France on 5 April 1918, aged 30. He is buried in the Mericourt-L'Abbe Communal Cemetery Extension, France.
