Studio portrait of Captain Andrew George Christian 1st Battalion of Coogee, NSW. A federal public servant prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard the HMAT Afric (A19) on 18 October 1914. Capt Christian was killed in action on 1 May 1915 at Gallipoli, Turkey, aged 42. He is buried in Shrapnel Valley Cemetery Anzac, Turkey.
