Studio portrait of 5305 Private (later Lieutenant) Francis Reginald Bennett, 20th (later 19th) Battalion of Rose Bay, NSW. A company secretary prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Wiltshire on 22 August 1916. Lt Bennett was killed in action at Daisy Wood, Belgium, on 9th October 1917, aged 26. He was buried near Zonnebeke, Belgium in the Ypres Sector but post war the grave was never found. He is remembered with honour on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
