Studio portrait of 745 Private (Pte) John Fraser, 15th Battalion, of Bulahdelah, NSW. A machinist prior to enlisting on 18 September 1914, Pte Fraser embarked from Melbourne on board HMAT Ceramic (A40) on 22 December 1914. The unit arrived in Egypt in February 1915 and as part of the 4th Brigade landed at Anzac Cove late in the afternoon of 25 April 1915. Pte Fraser was killed in action on 9 May 1915 at Quinn's Post. He was 24 years of age. Pte Fraser has no known grave and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial at Gallipoli.
