R.C. Carter WX8445 with wife Joyce
Description
Informal outdoor portrait of WX8445 Private (Pte) Reginald Charles Carter, 2/4 Machine Gun Battalion, and his wife Joyce. Pte Carter was taken prisoner of war (POW) of the Japanese and died of illness in Thailand on 18 February 1945. Medals, badges, identity discs, letters, postcards, telegrams and a carving related to Pte Carter's service are held at the Australian War Memorial.
