Description

A M47A mustard bomb mounted under the starboard wing of an 11 Squadron, RAAF, Vultee Vengeance dive bomber aircraft for the "Brook Island" (Hinchinbrook Island) beach trials. The aircraft was probably operating from Bowen or Proserpine. Mustard gas experiments were conducted by the Australian Chemical Warfare Research and Experimental Section, later known as the 1st Field Trials Company, Royal Australian Engineers (RAE).
