Uniform Patch TG633.2 MEAO : Royal Australian Air Force Task Group 633.2
Machine woven rectangular colour patch for Royal Australian Air Force Task Group 633.2. The patch has a brown border and shows the Australian flag in brown, white and pale yellow. A red back spider is superimposed over the flag. At the bottom of the patch, enclosed in a brown border is 'TG633.2 MEAO'. On the reverse are two Velcro strips for attaching the patch to a uniform.
Royal Australian Air Force Task Group 633.2 is a part of the electronic signals intelligence (ELINT) element to Operations Catalyst and Slipper. The group has two AP-3C Orion aircraft and crew flying operations in the Middle East Area of Operations (MEAO). The crews are rotated on a six monthly basis. The ground element which includes operations, maintenance, airfield defence and logistics assists in keeping the Task Group secure and producing a high level of operational intelligence and area security. The red back spider is the Task Group's mascot as the spider is small, but packs a punch, much like TG 633.2.
