Description

Studio portrait of 34836 Acting Corporal (A/Cpl) Charles Henry Glazebrook Tremlett, 10th Field Artillery Brigade, of Smithfield, NSW. A mechanic and salesman prior to enlisting in December 1916, he embarked from Melbourne on board HMAT Suevic (A29) in April 1917. He reverted to the rank of Gunner after training in England. Gnr Tremlett served in France with the 110th Howitzer Battery and was in England when the Armistice was signed. Gunner Tremlett returned to Australia in February 1919. Enlisting again in June 1940, N65625 Sergeant (Sgt) Tremlett served in Australia with the 2 Australian District Records Office. Sgt Tremlett died of illness on 10 July 1941, aged 61 years. Inscribed on the photograph is: "Your loving husband / Charlie / 18-6-17".
