Informal portrait of members of No. 78 Squadron RAAF on the tarmac below their Kittyhawk aircraft, nicknamed "Pistol Packin' Mama". Left to right: 578 Squadron Leader (Sqn Ldr) Adam Howie "Curley" Brydon; Jack Gibbons, probably 50419 Corporal Alfred John Gibbons; and Arthur Jones. Sqn Ldr Brydon was awarded a Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) "for brave conduct in hazardous flying operations' and a bar to the DFC for "outstanding courage in flying operations" in 1944.
