The Cloth Hall at Ypres
Description
Sketchbook leaf attached to scrapbook depicting a black ink and sepia watercolour sketch of the shell damaged Cloth Hall and St Martin's Cathedral. The surrounding landscape is barren, evidence to the fierce fighting in which Ypres was involved. Ypres was the scene of almost constant fighting throughout the First World War as it was a strategically important town.
