Description
An unidentified officer supporting himself with crutches, stands out side the Somerville Mechanics Institute at a repatriation outing for amputee officers. Identified is Charlotte Borrett, centre of the group of three women standing at back of Fiat open-top tourer car. The women at the right of the group is an unidentified Australian Army Nursing Service (AANS) sister. The car has a cross on the front, indicating it was part of the Red Cross Motor Service, where citizens volunteered their time and cars to transport returned and wounded servicemen, usually from transport ships or to medical appointments.
