Group portrait of members of Linguist Course 6, at the Linguist School. Identified front row, far left is: O15193 (441001) Sergeant Sgt Stephen Charles Hocking, RAAF. The other servicemen from the tri-services are unidentified. Following this course Sgt Hocking, who had previously served with the RAAF in the Second World War, became an interpreter with the British Commonwealth Occupation Force (BCOF) in Japan. One of the teachers at the course, Warrant Officer Maria Da Costa (not in photograph), is one of only three Australian female interpreters in BCOF.
