Studio portrait of 1589 Private Lindsay Williams, 27th Battalion, of St Peters, SA. A farm labourer prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 1st Reinforcements from Adelaide on HMAT Geelong on 31 May 1915. Private Williams was badly wounded on 4 August 1916. He was later noted as missing when the captured German trench he was in was buried by shell fire. He is believed to have died of his wounds. Private Williams has no known grave and his name is recorded on the Villers Bretonneux Memorial.
