Patriotic jigsaw : 'President F D Roosevelt - Prime Minister John Curtin - United for Victory'
Rectangular landscape format 170 piece jigsaw puzzle entitled 'United States of America President F D Roosevelt - United for Victory - Prime Minister John Curtin - Commonwealth of Australia' featuring a head portrait of each leader, with the men and equipment of each nation grouped to one side of each portrait, and the American eagle and Australian kangaroo placed centrally against a background of warships and bombers. Complete.
History unknown. Typical patriotic Australian-produced child's jigsaw puzzle from the late thirties to mid forties period. These were supplied in an outer envelope of the same size as the completed jigsaw, often with a small image of the finished picture on the reverse of the envelope. The 'wave' style of die-cutting is typical of the period, and of John Sands jigsaws from the mid 1930s to the mid 1950s. This particular example was produced no earlier than December 1941, when the United States entered the war after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour.
