Description

Studio portrait of 35225 Gunner James Lundie Davidson, Field Artillery Brigade who was a 28 year old clerk from Rose Park, South Australia when he enlisted on 31 October 1916. He embarked for overseas with the 27th Reinforcements from Melbourne on 9 November 1917 aboard HMAT Port Sydney. Gunner Davidson saw active service with the 3rd Australian Field Artillery Brigade in France and returned to Australia on 6 August 1919. He died on 14 October 1956. One of 131 photographs displayed on an honour board showing members of the Adelaide Rowing Club who enlisted for active service in the First World War. The original is held by the Adelaide Rowing Club who kindly loaned the board to the Australian War Memorial for copying.
