Description
Studio portrait of NX59357 Corporal (Cpl) Arthur "Reg" McGlashan, No. 1 Company, Australian Army Service Corps (AASC). A native of Narromine, NSW, he enlisted on 15 July 1940. Following the Japanese invasion of Singapore in February 1942, Cpl McGlashan was reported missing. His former platoon members, some of whom were taken prisoner of war, later stated that he was killed by machine gun fire near the village of Bukit Timah, Singapore. L Cpl MGlashan was later listed as presumed dead on 11 February 1942, aged 24, and his name is commemorated on the Singapore Memorial.
