Studio family portrait of 148 Sergeant (Sgt) Thomas Sullivan, 16th Battalion, with his wife Elizabeth, son Tom and six month old daughter Kath. A labourer of Maylands, WA, (originally of Chiswick, London), Sgt Sullivan enlisted on 8 September 1914 and as a member of C Company, he embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Ceramic (A40) on 22 December 1914. He served at Gallipoli where he was killed in action on 2 May 1915.
