Studio portrait of 2124 (Pte) Private William George Averkoff, 47th Battalion. Born at Vladivostock, Russia, Pte Averkoff was a book binder from Mourilyan, Qld, before he enlisted in March 1916. Pte Averkoff embarked from Brisbane in August 1916, and joined his unit in France in February 1917. Pte Averkoff was killed in action at Messines, France, on 7 June 1917.
