Studio portrait of 3175 Trooper (Tpr) George Samuel Foskett, 1st Australian Light Horse Regiment, of Sofala, NSW. A coal miner prior to enlistment, he embarked from Melbourne with the 1st Light Horse Regiment aboard HMAT Boorara on 10 May 1917. While serving in Palestine, Tpr Foskett died of wounds on 20 June 1918, aged 31.
