Description
Interior damage to the drivers station of an M113A1 Armoured Personnel Carrier after tripping a mine. The weld connecting the horizontal sponson to the hull side has been split apart from the detonation (the ground is clearly visible), which has allowed blast and debris to enter the driver's compartment. This was a controlled simulation to test the integrity of the existing armour and as can be seen the driver would have been severely injured or killed.
