Description
"For the Life of Me" by W.A. Bell. Contains the life story of NX2078 R.S.M Wilbur Athol (Athol) Bell. Part I is about his life leading up to the War. Part II is about his service in the 2/2 Australian Infantry Battalion in Palestine, Liberia, the Battle of Bardia, the capture of Tobruk and Greece. He escaped Turkey but was imprisoned by the Turks and sent back. Went to Cyprus and Greece with Battalion then El Arish, Syria and Ceylon. Had leave in Australia and then Battalion posted in New Guinea (Kokoda Trail). Hospitalised in Port Moresby and sent home. Part III is life after the war.
