Combat Ration One Man

Olive drab rectangular tin with separate lid, originally containing five pre-packed one-day rations, each sealed in a plastic bag marked 'Not For Private Resale to Public'. Both the lid and base are embossed with the legend 'Recycle Whenever Possible'. The Combat Ration One Man (CR5M) Ration Pack is designed to feed five personnel for one day or one member for five days and comes in five different menu types (A-E), one of each of which is included in this pack. Combat rations stored in a metal tin, intended to be used by five men for one day, or one man for five days. Developed by the Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) at Scottsdale in Tasmania with reference to the latest findings in nutrition and food science. This particular example was packed in 2003/2004 and is typical of the rations supplied to Australian forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. The rations are accompanied by a green Information sheet which details contents of the five meals supplied.
