Description

Raeburn Trindall, the Commonwealth Film Unit cinematographer, laying in a stokes litter protecting his camera from the rain and the rotor blade wash as he waits to be winched into a hovering helicopter. Mr Trindall was filming this scene to illustrate a soldier's view of a medical evacuation (dustoff) as he is winched into the hovering helicopter. This is one of a series of stills recording the visit to Vietnam of the Commonwealth Film Unit team of Malcolm Smith, director, Raeburn Trindall, cinematographer and Howard Spry, sound recordist, in early October 1968 to shoot footage to be used in productions for the RAAF Golden Years 50th anniversary celebrations.
