Description

Triangular blue felt pennant with two suspension loops at hoist, both are damaged. Screen printed in yellow, red and green the ships badge shows an oak twig with two leaves and at the tip an acorn in yellow with a red background. A rope circle encompasses this surmounted by the King’s crown and STALWART. Underneath is a boomerang and two clubs, beneath this is scroll work and the motto ‘Heart of Oak’. 'HMAS STALWART' is printed with yellow text and is to the right of the badge with an anchor to the right of the text.

History / Summary

This pennant was made as a souvenir for the crew of the HMAS Stalwart (II). HMAS Stalwart (II) is a Destroyer Tender and its keel was laid a Cockatoo Island Dockyard, Sydney, on 23 June 1964. It was commissioned on the 9 February 1968. HMAS Stalwart was the largest naval vessel wholly designed and built in Australia.
