Description
Lawton (probably 1895 Private (Pte) William Wallace Lawton), 5171 Pte John Robertson Nimmo, and Oxenham (probably 2222 Pte Reginald John Oxenham), 5th Light Horse, on mules in Middle East. Pte Nimmo enrolled in Medicine at the University of Sydney in 1913. In 1915 he broke off his studies and enlisted in the AIF. In Egypt he joined the 5th Light Horse, where his brother Robert Harold Nimmo was already serving as an officer. In August 1916 John Nimmo returned to Australia to complete his medical studies.
