Studio portrait of 4927 Private Robert Warner, 13th (later 4th Pioneer Battalion) Battalion, of Kiama, NSW. Son of James and Emily Warner. A farmer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Star of England (A15) on 8 March 1916. He died on 16 September 1916 at the 44th Casualty Clearing Station, France, of wounds received in action, on 15 August 1916, aged 18. He is buried in the Puchevillers British Cemetery, north-east of Amiens, France.
