Studio portrait of 4438 Private Archibald White Houston, 17th Battalion, of Campsie, NSW. Son of Margaret Houston, of Enmore, NSW, and Eugene Macintyre Houston. A clerk prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Nestor (A71) on 9 April 1916. He died of pneumonia on 14 January 1917 in Rouen, France, aged 28. He is buried in St. Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, France.
