Studio portrait of 2179 Private Albert James Hibbs Edmonds, 35th Battalion, of Blandford, NSW. Son of James H. and Sophia J. Edmonds. A labourer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Anchises (A68) on 24 August 1916. He was killed in action on 29 July 1917 in Belgium, aged 23. He is buried in Bethlehem Farm West Cemetery, Messines, Belgium.
