Studio portrait of 3830 Private Ernest Oswald Davis, 18th Battalion, of Tamworth, NSW. Husband of Violet Jane Davis of West Tamworth, NSW. A labourer prior to enlisting he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Runic (A54) on 25 June 1916. He was killed in action on 5 August 1916 in France, aged 30. He has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
