Description
A member of D (Delta) Company, 8RAR, who may be 216790 Private Raymond James (Ray) Armstrong, sits concealed in a thicket of trees and bushes with his M60 machinegun set up on its tripod ready to fire. Delta Company is taking part in Phase II of Operation Nudgee in collaboration with B and C Companies and the US 2nd Infantry Brigade, 25th Infantry Division. The Americans are sweeping a large area in the central west of the province looking for the Viet Cong D440 Provincial Mobile Battalion, with D Company occupying a blocking position to the northeast of the Area of Operations.
