Service dress trousers : Staff Sergeant H Schick, US Army
Pair of US Army olive drab wool dress trousers with four button fly, belt loops, slash hip pockets and a pair of rear pockets with button down flaps. With the exception of the waist button, all buttons are concealed. The waistband is lined inside with polished cotton and the pockets are from khaki cotton drill. The owner has written his service number, S-9664, in ink on the lining of one of the pockets.
Uniform worn by S-9664 Staff Sergeant Herbert Schick, a resident of California, who was drafted into the US Army in 1944. After training, Schick rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant, serving in the Seventh Army with the Railway Operating Corps (part of the Transportation Corps), Supreme Headquarters, Allied Expeditionary Force. He remained in Germany with the post-war Occupation Forces until his discharge in 1946; his uniform displays the Army of Occupation medal. His family later emigrated to Australia.
