Description

Some of the welding undertaken at a water treatment plant at Ar Rumyathah. The Civil MIlitary Co-operation (CIMIC) Team visited the plant to assess whether renovations could be undertaken as a CIMIC project. CIMIC worked with Iraqi civilians to undertake projects within their villages such as building and restoration of roads, irrigation, power plants and water supply, as well as schools, community centres, veterinary centres, slaughter houses and ambulance and fire stations, and usually paid local contractors to complete the work. The CIMIC team consisted of three members, all of whom are part of the Army Reserve, and were usually accompanied by a four man infantry bodyguard, however at this time they were also accompanied by Military Policeman, Warrant Officer Class 1 Greg Westhead, who undertook a more discrete security role.
