Description
The remains of the stairs at Abraham's house at Tallil, which was previously the site of Ur, one of the largest and greatest cities in ancient Mesopotamia over 4,000 years ago, and is still considered to be a sacred site by many today. The ziggurat at Ur is one of the best preserved in the country and was built by Ur-Nammu approximately 2113 - 2096 BC as a temple of worship, dedicated to the Sumerian moon god Nanna. It has been partially reconstructed to a height of 11 metres.
