Studio portrait of Second Lieutenant Donald Goldsmith Armstrong, 21st Battalion of Kyneton, Victoria. A bank clerk prior to enlistment, he embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Star of Victoria (A16) on 10 September 1915, as a Private with the service number 2932. Promoted to Second Lieutenant, he was killed in action on 9 October 1917 at Broonseinde, Belgium, aged 24. He is buried in Railway Dugouts Burial Ground, Belgium.
