Studio portrait of 405194 Sergeant (Sgt) Ronald David Smith, 460 Squadron, RAAF, of Brisbane, Qld. He enlisted on 2 February 1941 and was killed in operations over Belgium on 13 August 1942, aged 29. Sgt Smith was a bomb aimer in Wellington aircraft which took off from RAF Breighton on 12 August 1942, the aircraft was not heard from after take off and did not return to base. The aircraft crashed in the early hours of 13 August 1942 at Eisden, Belgium, and all crew were killed. They are buried at Herverlee War Cemetery, Louvain, Belgium.
