Model 1916 Spigot Grenade Launcher Baseplate (Granatenwerfer 16 Schusstafel)
Description
Model 1916 spigot grenade launcher (Granatwerfer) baseplate made from ordnance steel. The baseplate consists of a three quarter steel plate. The grenade launcher attaches to a central hole with a handle. A traversing arc is attached to the baseplate and two range table plates are rivetted to the baseplate. A carry handle is attached to the right side of the baseplate for transportation. The baseplate is painted matt grey.
History / Summary
The Model 1916 grenade launcher was introduced into German infantry regiments in 1916 and was used on all fronts by German forces during the First World War. The baseplate is attached to the grenade launcher for firing operations and is removed for logistical movements.
