Anzac Day marching banner : 2/3 Australian Infantry Battalion
Anzac Day marching banner made of artificial silk and canvas with a yellow cotton fringe. The banner takes the form of the colour patch of the 2/3 Australian Infantry Battalion with a horizontal brown panel above a green panel with a grey border. White appliqued lettering across the banner reads '2/3 AUST. INF. BN. LYBIA GREECE CRETE SYRIA PAPUA NEW GUINEA'. There are three circular 'holes' and twelve slits in the banner to help in carrying the banner when marching. A makers label on the banner reads 'SMITH COPELAND & CO PTY LTD Aberdeen REGD TRADEMARK 33 REGENT ST SYDNEY'.
Original Anzac Day marching banner of the 2/3 Australian Infantry Battalion, showing the Battle Honours won by the unit during the Second World War. This banner was used by the battalion association on Anzac Days in Sydney until it was accidentally mislaid. By the time it had been found a new banner had been made, which was still in use in 2005.
